The oil and natural gas industry and the federal government are working together to continuously improve the safety of offshore operations. The industry has placed a particular focus on increasing its ability to:
- Prevent spills from occurring.
- Intervene to halt any spill that does occur.
- Respond to spills with the most effective mitigation measures possible.
2020 COS Safety Leadership Award
The Center for Offshore Safety recognizes operators and contractors who are willing to share processes and practices that have enhanced leadership, communication, and teamwork to improve safety management. Nominate someone who exemplifies these characteristics today. Nominations will be accepted until July 27, 2020.
API Updates Recommended Practice 75
The newest update to API RP 75 provides guidance for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving a Safety and Environmental Management System (SEMS) for offshore oil and natural gas facilities.
The new edition expands the reach of the SEMS program to include global operations in addition to acknowledging advancements in technology to improve risk management.
