Please join the Center for Offshore Safety for a free one-day summit to discuss the safety - and safety management - areas of decommissioning.
According to BSEE (https://www.bsee.gov/decommissioning), “Approximately 1,885 active production platforms exist on the OCS with more than 60% of these facilities more than 25 years old…Over the past decade, the offshore energy industry has averaged 127 platform removals per year.”
This Summit will include presentations from companies and speakers engaged in decommissioning providing opportunities to discuss lessons learned and important safety / process improvements. Sessions will focus on common decommissioning processes including addressing:
- Corrosion impacts on structural integrity of a facility,
- Risk of dropped objects stemming from potential corrosion impacted by vibrations related to decommissioning activities,
- Contractor management and resource constraints, and
- Environmental concerns as idle iron is disconnected from existing pipelines and other subsea infrastructure.
There is no fee to attend this event. Seating is limited to 100 persons.
